Our client, a division of an international manufacturer of construction materials, has need for an accomplished Maintenance Supervisor for their Calgary plant. With close to 200 plants across North America , future opportunities are unlimited.
REPORTS TO:
Maintenance/Engineering Manager
FUNCTION:
To supervise skilled trade employees for all facilities and equipment maintenance activities including professional maintenance, corrective maintenance, planned and preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, process improvements and modifications to ensure the effective ongoing operation of the Plant in a manner that is consistent with our Vision, Mission, Values, and Objectives.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
Actively promote a safe working environment focused on full compliance with company and legal safety policies and laws. Ensure that personnel are adequately trained in the safe and efficient performance of their duties.
Plan, supervise, and lead a team of skilled trade employees in the maintenance and improvement of plant equipment and facilities by assigning work duties and inspecting completed work
Work with the Maintenance/Engineering Manager to ensure the completion of departmental and Plant business plan objectives..
Align maintenance work with the correct parts, equipment etc. to minimize project time, equipment down time, and re-work.
Co-ordinate the installation of new equipment.
Use a computerized maintenance management system to effectively organize and track maintenance work at the plant .
Monitor and review work results and the work performance of subordinates.
Inspection of existing facilities and installations along with suggestions for alterations and revisions
Remain aware of changes in the field by reading, attending training, & actively participating in day-to-day activities
Active support for and involvement in the WCM process consistent with Plant and departmental objectives
Cascade & integrate the company's VMVO throughout team
Other duties as required.
BACKGROUND QUALIFICATIONS:
Ideal candidate will have a post secondary diploma/degree in Engineering (mechanical or electrical) with a minimum of 3-5 years related experience in a supervisory capacity or 3-5 years plant supervisory experience with a high-degree of mechanical/electrical aptitude. Continuous process operation and/or gypsum knowledge would be a definite asset. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, excellent experience with personal computers/software (Microsoft Office, MP2, etc…) and success in working within a team-based environment.
