Performance Improvement Specialist - Calgary

Our client, a division of an international manufacturer of construction materials, has need for an accomplished Performance Improvement Specialist for their Calgary plant. With close to 200 plants across North America, future opportunities are unlimited.

Job Purpose:
Exciting career move for dynamic engineers who want to have a real impact on production performance . Reporting to the Plant Manager or Delegate, this person will develop, implement, and support Performance Improvement in the plant, particularly in Production-related areas, and play a key role in the introduction of new technologies and methodologies. Strong use of continuous improvement techniques, including TPM, Toyota Production System, Lean and Six Sigma, on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

•  Ensure that all employees are working in a safe manner

•  Work closely, and lead, cross-functional teams in performance improvement

•  Co-ordinate projects, with responsibility for technical content, cost management and on-time completion.

•  Identify innovative solutions, process control and system enhancements, and suitable new technologies for the improvement of the site's productivity performance, safety, service and quality

•  Generate project proposals, functional requirements specifications, and assist with preparation of capital applications that will improve equipment performance and enhance production targets

•  Conduct root-cause analysis and training to obtain and implement sustaining countermeasures

•  Train Production and Maintenance personnel on improvements and upgrades

•  Ensure that all employees are working in a safe manner

•  Other duties as required.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate will be an engineer with 3 years experience in process improvement and leading cross-functional project teams. Looking for a high-energy, hands-on engineering professional with a strong interest in continuous improvement. The candidate should be comfortable working within a true team-oriented environment.
