Customer Service Supervisor - Shipping - GTA

Our client, a division of an international manufacturer of construction materials, has need for an accomplished manager for their Greater Toronto Area plant. With close to 200 plants across North America , future opportunities are unlimited.

Function:
Reporting to the Customer Service Manager, the Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and direction of an assigned shipping shift involved in the distribution of wallboard and other products to the Company's safety, quality, and operational standards while being consistent with it's Vision, Mission, Values, and Objectives (VMVO).

Accountabilities include:

•  Maintain a safe working environment. Must recognize unsafe conditions and practices and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss. Required to support or complete safety audits/inspections of the assigned work area, thorough investigations of incidents and accidents, job safety analysis and have periodic safety meetings

•  Openly and honestly communicate with all employees to build trust and effective teamwork. Encourage employee involvement in achieving shared objectives towards VMVO

•  Monitor distribution processes and product quality to ensure correct procedures are followed

•  Complete daily reports, payroll information, cycle counts, production schedules, and other reports as assigned

•  Oversee employee training, inventory system

•  Liaise with order desk staff other plant staff to ensure customer requirements are met

•  Maintain good labour relations and provide fair, balanced, performance feedback. Assist in the administration of the Collective Agreement and personnel issue s

•  Evaluate and solve of process issues (troubleshooting)

•  Utilize WCM techniques to achieve operational targets

•  Communicate with management abnormal events or circumstances.

•  Complete other tasks and projects as assigned.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS :

Ideally, the successful candidate will have a post-secondary technical degree or diploma and 2-3 years experience in a distribution environment or a grade 12 diploma with 5–10 years of distribution/supervisory experience. Furthermore, the applicant should possess good communication skills, work well in a team-oriented environment and be able to cope with multiple demands simultaneously. Work involves a rotating-shift schedule within a manufacturing facility with exposure to heat, dust, and noise. Limited travel.
