REGIONAL SALES MANAGER – Western Canada

Our client is a recognized industry manufacturing leader of building materials. They are a division of a large international manufacturer with sales of over 50 billion dollars. This position will be responsible for a territory from Manitoba to British Columbia and will lead to a National Vice President of Sales role.

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Vice President Sales, the Western Sales Manager is responsible for assisting in the development of sales objectives for the designated area; planning, controlling and directing the activities of members of the sales force assigned to his/her responsibility in the accomplishment of these objectives; and providing functional guidance to associate areas managers on sales matters.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:

•  Through the company's VMVO, provide general direction to all department members.

•  Work closely with the plant manager to manage the overall business.

•  Prepare regular short term forecasts for production scheduling purposes.

•  Prepare an annual sales forecast and expense budget for his/her department for submission to the VP Sales, and when approved, to develop strategies to ensure achievement.

•  Assist in the development of long range forecasts and sales strategies.

•  Co-ordinate the activities of all sales personnel under his/her direction to meet the overall objectives of the Region.

•  Work with the V.P. Sales on training and development of personnel within the Sales Department.

•  Ensure all members of the sales force act within the Company's policy, legal and moral.

•  Work with the Marketing Department in developing new applications for present products and systems as well as evaluating new product opportunities.

•  Exploit market opportunities and make recommendations that would develop future sales volumes.

•  Assist in establishing pricing policies and take actions necessary to ensure adherence thereto.

•  Administer the product warranties and complaint procedure, in accordance with Company policy.

•  Work with the Credit Department in the setting of credit limits and collection of accounts.

•  Maintain effective communications between other divisions and departments of the Company.

•  Inform management on any significant events of which he/she becomes aware, competitive or otherwise, that have happened or may happen which may have an impact on the Company.

•  Represent the Company at professional and trade associations as appropriate.

•  To keep informed on matters pertaining to the responsibilities within his/her control.

•  Undertake such projects as may from time to time be assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

A post secondary degree or a combination of experience and education coupled with 8 to 10 years experience in a Sales/Marketing environment. Candidates must be completely bilingual (both written and verbal), have strong communication skills and have the ability to manage a variety of Sales related functions within a customer and team oriented environment
