Located at our refinery and reporting to the Team Leader, the Process Control engineer will be an integral member of the Refinery Automation Department with primary responsibility to lead process control initiatives, development and maintenance. |
Accountabilities
Identify, develop and implement process control opportunities within the plant processes to enhance profitability and safe operations
Take a lead role in coordinating the maintenance and improvement of existing advanced/regulatory process controllers and the development of new controllers
Work with process engineers, operators and instrument technicians to troubleshoot and investigate control related issues or upsets
Work closely with process control vendors/contractors to implement automation strategies
Perform loop tuning on regulatory controls
Support Operator Training Simulator implementation and maintenance
Maintain and enhance the data historians PHD and LIMS
Work to achieve departmental goals such as loop uptimes, optimization metrics, etc.
Mentor junior engineers and engineering students
Support strategic projects involving process control |
Specific Functional/Technical Skills
Musts
Bachelor or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Preference will be given to those with experience or specialization in process control.
5 or more years of related experience in Process Engineering and/or Process Control working in a refinery or similar hydrocarbon or control industry.
Possess broad knowledge of industrial automation and advanced process control technology.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Able to work well in a team environment and with unionized personnel.
Wants
Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
Experience with advanced process control applications and control systems in the Honeywell environment (familiar with RMPCT, PHD, TDC 2000/3000, TPS, Experion)
Experience working with Operator Training Simulators (Honeywell's UniSim, Shadow Plant)
Programming experience (Visual Basic)
Statistics experience (multivariate analysis) |

This position has a very attractive total compensation and benefit package. Salary administration will be dependent on the skill level and experience of the successful candidate.
